Huawei AITO M8 go on sale in April, Direct Competition to Li Auto L9

The AITO M8 has been confirmed to go on sale in April. The vehicle was initially set to debut at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, launch officially in May, and begin deliveries in June. The entire schedule is now expected to be brought forward.

The AITO M9, priced between 469,800 and 569,800 yuan (approximately 65,000 to 78,500 USD), and the Li Auto L9, priced between 409,800 and 439,800 yuan (approximately 56,600 to 60,800 USD).are already well-known competitors in the luxury SUV segment. The price of the AITO M8 is expected to be in close range to that of the Li Auto L9, setting the stage for a head-to-head confrontation between the two.

Design and Dimensions

The AITO M8 has already been certified by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The exterior design of the vehicle is largely in line with the AITO M9’s design language, with the only differences being in details. The M8 measures 5,190 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,795 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,105 mm, making it a full-size SUV.

Interior and Features

From the earlier leaked spy shots, the interior of the AITO M8 will feature a gigantic, unbroken display panel front, though proportionally narrower in height compared to the AITO M9. The wireless charging area also differs from that of the M9. The new car is also equipped with a heads-up display (HUD) and a top-of-the-line Huawei audio system so that its overall configuration does not lag behind the M9.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the hood of the engine compartment, AITO M8 has a 1.5T range-extender system, with the extender having a peak power output of 118 kW. The M8 has superior fuel economy, with its WLTC fuel consumption being 0.53L/100km and 0.52L/100km. The M8 also has twin electric motors for the front and rear axles, enhancing the vehicle’s driving dynamics and performance.

With the release date looming, the AITO M8 will cause quite a splash in the premium SUV sector, particularly compared to rivals like the Li Auto L9. Stay tuned for further details as they are announced.
