Volvo Launches ES90, an all-electric sedan with a 740km range, advanced tech, and sleek design — set to rival the BMW i5 and Mercedes EQE,

On March 5, Stockholm, Sweden, hosted the official launch of the ES90, an all-electric mid-sized sedan from Volvo. The SPA2 electric platform is what the ES90 is built upon. With an impressive 740 kilometers of range, high voltage 800V system, and 106kWh CATL battery, the ES90 serves as an electric version of the S90. This model will be produced at Geely’s Chinese factory and sold domestically as well as abroad. While a 2025 release date is expected, it’s still undetermined if Volvo will meet that goal.

By 2025, Volvo is aiming to release seven new electric models, the ES90 being one of them. The other planned models include a plug-in hybrid SUV based off the SMA platform and the SPA3 based EX60 electric SUV. By 2025, Volvo anticipates 50 to 60 percent of their production coming from electric models, with a planned switch to full electrification by 2030.
