WeRide Debuts Fully Driverless Robobus Service in Europe with Launch in France

Chinese autonomous driving company WeRide, in collaboration with Renault Group, French autonomous mobility operator beti, and insurance group Macif, officially launched its L4 autonomous minibus service, known as Robobus, in Drôme, France. This marks WeRide’s first public deployment of fully driverless Robobuses on European roads.

WeRide has provided several Robobuses, each equipped with L4 autonomous driving technology. The 6-meter-long shuttles can carry up to 8 passengers and will be operated by beti. The service is scheduled to begin on March 10, running at the Rovaltain business park near the Valence TGV station.

The Robobus service will initially operate along a 3.3-kilometer route, connecting key points within the 162-hectare business park, including the TGV station, long-term parking areas, dining facilities, and more than 150 businesses. This route is expected to serve approximately 3,000 employees. The rollout will occur in two phases: a trial period from March 10 to April 19, followed by full commercial operations starting in July 2025.
